What?
The American Indians lived in shelters because they didn't have the material to build really good and structured houses. Some of there tribes were nomads. This meant that the entire village would travel from one place, to another one. Other tribes lived in one place for another time. This was because they had water and food nearby.
These tribes built more permanent like the pueblo and longhouses. The tribes hunted for buffalo in order for them to to get more food. The hogan was the home by the Navajo people of the Southwest. They used wooden poles for the frame and then covered it, in adobe clay mixed with glass.
The home they lived in depended on what kind of materials they had available where ever they lived. They made also didn't have the materials to build the shelters so the shelters they live in now actually was built from another tribe. The other tribes just moved from the are they lived in before. The American Indians had clothes covering there entire body instead of just a little bit.
